Frequently asked questions

Q. Can I design my own cake?

A. Yes of course you can, all of our cakes are made to order

Q. Do you deliver?

A. Yes we do deliver depending on availability - please get in touch for a quote

Q. Do you cater to special dietary requirements?

A. Yes we do, just ask :)

Q. What if the flavour I want isn't on the menu?

A. Let us know and we will do our best to make that flavour.

Q. Do you offer cake tastings?

A. Yes we do, these are charged at R150 for up to 4 flavours. Should you confirm your order this amount will be deducted from your final invoice.

Q. Should I keep my cake in the fridge?

A. No, just on the counter in a cool room is perfect.... Just keep it out of direct sunlight! in very hot weather please speak to our decorator for specific instruction.

Q. Do I have to have experience to attend a class?

A. No, our classes are open to everyone & every level

Q. Do you offer party classes for showers & hens parties?

A. Yes we do, please get in touch for more information.

Q. What if I can't make it to a class I've booked?

A. If we get 72 hours notice we will offer a full refund for the class

Q. Can I pay for my class on the day?

A. All of our classes require full payment to confirm your spot - payments can be made by EFT

Terms & Conditions

 

Payments & Deposits
*All orders are to be paid in full at the time of ordering in order to confirm the order - Payments may be made by EFT or in cash. 

*All wedding cake orders require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost at the time of ordering. The outstanding amount is then due 4 weeks prior to the wedding day. In the event that full payment has not been made 72 hours prior your order may be cancelled. No cakes will be delivered/collected if they have not been paid for in full.

 

Cake Design
All of our cakes are individually designed and hand crafted, therefore there will be slight differences when duplicating any of our existing designs or working from your images.

 

Cake Components & Parts
*Depending on the design, on occasion it may be necessary to use non edible supports or other items in your cake. These will be visible when cutting but we will also make you aware of this when you receive your cake.

*From time to time certain materials for our cakes may become obsolete or no longer be available from our suppliers. In all cases we will try to contact you to advise of any such changes, however Yumi Stuff reserves the right to replace these with components in equal or better quality without consultation.

 

Colours
Yumi Stuff will endeavour to match colours of ribbons / swatches where possible, but we cannot be held responsible for any slight differential in colour. We always recommend giving a colour sample for very specific requests.

 

Collection
Your order can be collected at a pre-arranged time convenient to both parties between Monday to Saturday, Sundays available on request.

 

Delivery
Your order can be delivered at a pre-arranged time convenient to both parties. It is your responsibility to provide correct delivery information and to ensure that someone is available to receive the cake.  Delivery of 100km round trip from Edenvale is included for wedding cakes, additional mileage will be charged for. All cakes over two tiers need to be delivered and built on site to avoid damage.

 

Set up
*Should you require your cake to be delivered, Yumi Stuff will deliver and set up your cake as agreed as we want to ensure it is displayed at its best. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have provided Yumi Stuff with all the set up details and arrangements made with the venue for the location and display of the cake. Yumi Stuff cannot be held responsible for the location of the cake at the venue. Please ensure therefore that the display location is level, stable and strong enough to hold the cake.

*Please also remember that certain types of cake coverings, such as chocolate and Swiss Meringue buttercream, can melt in warm conditions such as inside a marquee on a hot summers day or when set up in direct sunlight.

 

Allergies
We do cater for special dietary requests, please get in touch for options.

Please be aware that whilst your chosen cake may not be made with nuts / nut product / gluten or gluten containing products, it will be prepared in a kitchen where nut products and other allergens may be used present. We therefor do not cater to very severe or death threatening allergies.

 

Damage

Once the cake has been collected or delivered and set up Yumi Stuff is unable to accept any liability for any interference or damage to the cake thereafter.

 

Decorating Classes
Please check availability before booking by emailing Belinda.yumistuff@gmail.com or phoning 0792945690 To secure a place we require full payment at time of booking.

Cancellation Policy:
* Full details and location will be emailed to you once you have booked for and paid for the class. No refunds are made if a student cancels on the day or does not attend the class. Transfer to another class available on prior request.

*Please note all classes are subject to a minimum number of enrolments. In the event of numbers not being met, Yumi Stuff reserves the right to cancel the class and you will be notified by phone or email giving 48 hours notice. In that event, you may choose to transfer credit to another class or to accept a full refund. Please note that this does not include travel and accommodation expenses.

*You attend the classes completely at your own risk. We will not be liable for any injuries, accidents or loss that occur during your class.

*Equipment Usage: All equipment used during the class is the property of Yumi Stuff and must not be removed from the class.
